The bridge erecting machine is the equipment that places the prefabricated beams onto the prefabricated piers. The bridge erecting machine belongs to the crane category, because its main function is to lift the beam sheet, and then transport it to the position after setting it down. But it is very different from the crane in the general sense. Its requirements are harsh, and there is a beam on the line, or longitudinal movement.

Bridge erecting machine belongs to crane special equipment. It is used to place pre-fabricated box beams or T-beams on bridge piers. The biggest difference between the bridge erecting machine and the general bridge crane is that it requires itself to pass through the hole. The prefabricated beam is set up on the pier by lifting the beam from the beam carriage, moving it horizontally, dropping the beam and so on.
According to the purpose of the bridge erection machine is divided into road bridge, conventional railway bridge, passenger railway bridge and so on. According to the structural form, there are single beam bridge erecting machine, double beam bridge erecting machine, guide beam bridge erecting machine and so on.
A bridge construction machine whose boom is a box-shaped beam suspended forward with a collapsible column (consisting of left and right legs) at its front end. The machine can drive into the bridge position in the no-load state, and then extend the front column and support the front pier. When the beam plate (or the whole beam) is moved along the boom, the boom is close to the state of simply supported beam.
When erecting the bridge, the machine can drive into the bridge position by itself in the no-load state. It is necessary to first transfer the beam sheet from the railway flat car to the special beam carriage by using the special gantry crane, and then align the beam carriage with the rear end of the bridge erecting machine. The beam sheet is lifted by the two beam trolley traveling on the crane arm, and the beam is dropped along the crane arm to the bridge position.
In order to adapt to the curved bridge, the lifting arm of the machine can swing a little in the horizontal plane. The beam placement method is the same as that used by the double cantilever bridge erecting machine (beam shifting or track shifting).
